and now, for something completely different, lol - -

I don't believe I have EVER blogged without giving a freebie...so this may be a first.   I admit it's strange to not have something to share....like...who will come see the blog at all then?  Well, in case one of you does...here I am.     I am bored silly - and have a killer headache.   I gotta tell you guys...that targeted radiation might work great (hopefully!), but it didn't feel too good at the time.   I was on this flat table (the kind they use for CT scans), with one little triangle thing under my knees for support - - I have a terrible sway back, and asked for at least two supports...no dice.     Then.....there is this C shaped holder that you put your head into, right?  The bottom of the "C" stabs into your neck...the top doesn't do much.   By the time we were finished, I was ready to rip the bottom half of that C outta there it hurt so darned much...and when the radiation was going?  Felt like my head was on fire.    Can you say I am glad it's DONE?    No real side effects so far other than the dang munchies from the steroids..I have put on 15 pounds since the beginning of December.   NOT GOOD.   So I'm trying like mad to stay away from stuff......(cough)    - - - so far, its not working.    I spent part of yesterday cutting out some quilting squares...I haven't quilted in ages!   Going to do that now, tho!    I'll be machine piecing the top, then making a cover for the comforter we have on our bed now.....make it to slide right on over it, and THEN quilt the whole thing down.   It's all in bright batiks - - and hopefully it will work out.  The thing will measure 6.5 ft x 7.5 ft when done,  and the middle will be the Trip Around the World pattern to show off all the beautiful fabrics I have for it with some sort of pieced borders.   Sometimes, like now - - I like to make it up as I go.  Only the middle is laid out so far...so I'm off to get that done!    Then we are having Albondigas soup and crusty homemade french bread for supper.   Sounds like the rest of my day!   Have a WONDERFUL Sunday afternoon!   -Kim

  1. Nuts to the headache, but hopefully the targeted radiation will work! Sorry it was a miserable experience. I hope the new treatments work and am holding only good thoughts for you.

Quilting makes me happy. I love playing with all the colors, and the patterns that appear depending on how you arrange your pieces.

Hate the steroids whenever I have had to take them, so sympathize. I thought they made stuff taste weird.

I love the scrap booking designs you come up with, and you and your team make great freebies and are much appreciated. Thanks.

  2. And this too shall pass....but damn its miserable at the time!! I am also a quilter and have found it is so much fun and helps take the mind off the miseries. Quilt piecing with bright cheery colors can bring sunshine to dull winter day, much like scrap booking. Sounds like it gives you that joy and distraction that you need now. Love your designs and I thank you for your generosity with all the beautiful freebies.

  3. My heart goes out to you. What a horrible thing to have to endure. Praying for you to feel better and to be free from this disease.
I am a quilter too, and would love for you to post pictures.

  5. You have a lot of people following your blog and even though the freebies are awesome and much appreciated, I check in now days for any news of how you are doing in your journey to defeat this alien in your body. When I pray for my friends who are fighting many different battles for their health & sanity, your name is included. Praying that you have a great week and looking forward to your next update. Would love to see your quilt progress.

  8. I will never understand why the medical profession can't do a better job with patient care. If the radiation is targeted to your head, it would seem there is no logical reason that the rest of you can't be made comfortable. Surely a rolled up towel under your back wouldn't have messed up the radiation! But you've survived yet another step in this process and I'm sending you positive vibes and healing thoughts that it works as it is meant to. Not sure I could have handled the brain on fire bit.

  13. Freebie not needed. I enjoy reading your thoughts and feelings. Wish the radiation wasn't such a painful, nasty procedure. Wishing you well on the outcome, though. Enjoy your quilting!

  22. In Spain there is a saying 'hands that you do not give, what do you expect', you always give a lot in your blog: you give us ideas, you give us illusion, you show us your precious creations, and you tell us things about you, how you find yourself. You always give us ... a lot! Thanks for everything, have a happy day and you recover well and soon!

  23. Freebies are wonderful, tis true! but your blog is actually the only one i read and it's the first thing i open up every a.m.! i've always believed in the power of positive thinking and although we are spread all over the globe and will never meet, there has to be some strength in sending you prayers, positive thoughts, and hopes that you will beat this and look back and say "whew, it's finally OVER!"

my heart goes out to you and your family ... stay strong throughout this torture! and yes, i am hoping, wishing and praying that you will beat this menace!!!

  25. Practice giving and people will give to you. They will pour into your laps a fine measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing. For with the measure that you are measuring out, they will measure out to you in return. Luke 6:38.

As you can see from the comments, We have all feel a connection to you and your story and want to give our support during your battle as it will give you power to deal with it. I agree with what everyone else has said as well. Thanks, and love the freebies. They are the most beautiful around. Also a quilter and want to see pictures of your progress. Prayers for strength and better health for you. But mostly love reading your story and giving our encouragement as we would to a personal friend. C

  26. I am sending prayers of support for your new direction for your blog. Also prayers for healing and strength where it is needed. I come to your blog every morning and yes it was for the freebies, but I also enjoy your beautiful designs. You and your team make wonderful creative freebies and I am so appreciative for them. Take care of youself and enjoy life.
My sister also quilts and has recently redone her space to accomodate the quilting process. She has a tremendous amount of fabric. :)

  27. Thanks so much for all the input and prayers - - I'll try keeping everyone updated as much as I can. New directions in treatment - who knows what might happen, right? I'm still designing, no problem there, and will be back on track starting this week with New Releases. I'm also taking back over the Use It All challenge at the Digichick each month for a while.....keeping busy helps me LOTS. I'm going to start piecing the middle of the quilt today - have it all ready to go - and Eric wants spagetti for supper because last night we had crusty homemade french loaves with our soup, and he wants that bread with some pasta sauce, lol - - so I have lots to do today and am on a mission to see how much I can get done. Headache is barely there so far today!

  28. I think the best thing we can do for you is let you know we're praying for you and sending happy and positive thoughts your way. You are such an inspiration to me with your determination to do the things you love doing in spite of what you're dealing with. You are so talented, and we are all so blessed that you share your talents with us. I agree that it would be wonderful to see this quilt you're making. Perhaps photos as you go along! You go girl!!

  29. Hi from Australia :) I also follow your blog everyday, and although I'
m lousy at saying thank you, I do have a large collection of your designs .. I can't help but buy them, they are all so beautiful!! I love all your freebies, they add to my collection and help me in my creations when time is pressing :) but I come to see how you are whether or not there is a gift! Your courage in fighting this disease is inspirational, and I sincerely hope and pray that you are rewarded by beating this monster for good .. with your attitude, I am sure you will do so! With the number of people you touch everyday with your courage and generousity in sharing your fight, and your gifts; who are all sending encouragement, love and lots of prayers to you and for you - should certainly help. I too, would love to see your quilt one day! Hope you are feeling much better very soon xxx

  31. Hey there, I follow (almost daily) from Texas. This week I am in Oklahoma~ I wanted to let you know that you will be in my prayers during this time. I will be here daily (if I can) regardless of a freebie or not because I love seeing what you create. Your work is an inspiration and I think you do a beautiful job. Prayers and Blessings from Texas

  32. I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS and hope that you start to feel better really soon. I will come to check even if you don't have a give away, even though I believe I may have them all. Just to see if you are ok. God Bless.

  33. You are (and have always been) the most generous designer that I have come across in the digital scrapbooking world. I check your blog every night, and always enjoy seeing what you & your creative team have put together to give to all your fans. But, considering what you've been dealing with for what seems like such a long time now, the fact that you've needed to take a short break is not as surprising as the fact that you've not done so more often! You are amazing, and an inspiration to us all!! Keeping you (& your family) in my thoughts & prayers. (And I've been having a ball adding more to my "kimeric collection" during your fabulous sale; so many thanks for that generous opportunity also!!) Lori

  34. I was just wondering about you this morning and clicked your link on facebook. I am glad you made it through the radiation. Not fun. And it is good to hear you are quilting. I love quilts. Try to stay away from the snacks. LOL Thank you for the update.

  35. Kim, so glad to see you have not lost your sassy sense of humor. You NEED this to keep you "getting through" this mess. Glad you don't have side effects - hope it stays that way. Quilting? Fabulous. Giving yourself a fun project is a great idea. Hang in there. Many of us think about you a lot. That's why we keep coming back - just to check and make sure w don't miss one of your updates. Stay strong!!

  36. So very sorry for what you are going through. Sometimes life isn't fair. I am a cancer survivor, so keep your chin up and your attitude good. It helps. I thank you for all your generosity. It is most appreciated. I am praying for you. God listens!!

  37. Hi Kim, I keep coming back to your blog for two reasons: your freebies (they're awesome) and to find out how you are. I'm praying for you and hope that you continue to NOT have any side effects. Funny (ironic), how radiation hurts so much even though you can't see it.

  39. I love to read your blog and little insight to your life. The freebies are just a little bonus gift (that are gorgeous and much appreciated!) You have so much courage and deal with everything in such a positive way. I am truly inspired by you and your sense of humor in dealing with everything being thrown your way. Sending lots of prayers your way. Hope 2018 becomes one of your best years.

  40. Hi Kim! Love your blog. Sorry to hear of your vicious headache, hope it is gone away. You truly are an inspiration to those of us that follow you. You manage to do so much, while not feeling the best. Your digital creations are amazing, and I have no doubt your quilt will be fabulous...batiks are so colorful and calming. Thank you for all you do for us...not just your digital gifts, but the gift of sharing your story and what you are going through...we all face challenges in our lives, yet you have showed us the grace, strength and bravery to face them. Best wishes for good health in 2018. Prayers for fast healing. (((((HUGS)))) Barb
