So today Eric took me to Prairie du Chien for a long awaited tour of the Villa Louis mansion and a burger from Pete's Hamburger stand....this is the last weekend they will be open until next spring, and the line was long. Eric waited in line for 45 minutes just to get ours, and might be in a video that the Wisconsin Public Broadcasting crew was making - Sounds goofy, I know, but Pete's has been in business for over 100 years now, is only open spring thru fall.....and only serves hamburgers. No cheeseburgers...hamburgers. Cooked on a grill with tons of onions and water to keep them juicy. Seasoned with salt and pepper only, and you can get them with or without onions...and catsup and mustard are the ONLY condiments to choose from, lol! I know it sounds odd, but trust me, they are to die for good - and I enjoyed every single bite! As for the Villa Louis, the orginal was built by Hercules Dousman in the early 1800's - - and then rebuilt by his son to modernize it in 1846. Most of the original furniture pieces are there, paintings, carpets......it's a beautiful home with tons of history. I loved it :) Then we did our shopping and we came home....looking forward to relaxing and watching our new binge tv show - Dexter. We are loving that, too...and I need to get my Dexter fix here pretty soon!
