Did you ever wonder WHY yellowjackets exist on this earth of ours? Good gravy...they are all over, building nests under the deck railings...under the deck, even under our deck table. We are kinda sorta used to them being around, even tho they drive us insane...but man. Today I'm out there working on the middle strip planter I started last year...extended it today to join with the main strip that runs thru the middle of the yard, right? Eric took me rock hunting earlier today so I could have enough rocks to extend the border and make a pathway to walk thru...so I'm out there digging away for the new border pieces....and right under my right arm....so close to my armpit its not funny.....one got me. Got me good. For no reason...I wasn't swatting at it, didn't even know it was around until it stung me. After uttering a few choice words that I won't repeat here....I took off the gloves, came in and grabbed the first cold thing I saw - one of Eric's cans of Code Red. Sat with that under my armpit for half an hour...took some ibuprofen. It's ok now, altho I have a nice red welt to show for it...but honestly!!! What purpose do these mean buggers serve on earth? That was the 'highlight' of my day. I did get lots done, lol - but the sting took over my focus. Hope you had a great Saturday :) Tonight I have another fabo cluster from Jenni to share - made with my new release Adventure Awaits :)

Jenni, this is outstanding! It made me smile as soon as I saw it, and the wording is so true. Thanks so much, and Kim thanks for the share. Sorry you were stung.

ReplyDeleteOh, I had to look up "yellowjackets"!! I live in Australia, and here they are called wasps .. so I learned something today!! Sorry you were stung .. they are miserable, useless pests!! We have had them in our yard, but luckily, so far, I have managed to avoid getting stung .. Thank you so much for the beautiful word art cluster.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteyellowjackets are the grumpy old men of stinging bugs! a few summers ago we eradicated 3 nests in our yard (only found each one after getting stung while doing yardwork) plus a bald-faced hornet's nest. blargh!
