FINALLY! An absolutely beautiful, gorgeous day here in southwestern Wisconsin..sunshine, mild temperatures....virtually no humidity, breezy........and that breeze is helping to dry up some wet spots :) Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same, thankfully. I plan on being outdoors. Tonight there is a candle lighting ceremony for veterans graves in the cemetery here in the village. The cemetery is located northwest of us, about 1/2 a mile - but the village put in a bike path last year, and we can cut across the cornfields now to get to the county road its on - an easy walk over! I'm hoping Eric will still want to walk over with me - the Legion does the ceremony, and its quite moving. The parade tomorrow goes thru the village and ends up at the cemetary, too. The one odd thing about the cemetary here in Wauzeka is that its built into a hillside. A VERY steep hillside at that...all the headstones are angled - and you have to angle yourself just to read them. It's quite historic, with markers dating back to the 1850's, and yes, there are a couple of Civil War Veterans buried there. We like going into Prairie du Chien on Memorial Day, as PdC is the 2nd oldest city in the state, and rich in history. Soldiers from old Fort Crawford are buried there....some of the graves are a couple hundred years old. We're staying out of PdC this weekend, tho - its crazy busy with campers and tourists already. Much easier to visit during the week :) Hope you've had a great day! Tonight I have a gorgeous cluster that Jenni made to share with you - using my new collection Sugar & Spice.
